Philip Morris Warehouse had one of the least efficient lighting we have seen for a long time. The managing team was looking for ways how to lower consumption and increase profits.
This brought them together with telcs. When we came in, the electrical consumption was 34KW/h and anywhere between 30 to 50 lux in the warehouse.
With a sophisticated lighting model of the warehouse we were able to find the most energy saving solution. The lighting levels were increased to minimum 50lux, in some areas even 100lux, but the consumption was lowered to about 5.2KW/h.
Sometimes it seems to be so easy to conserve energy and save the world. The question is only, why aren't more companies doing it, especially when they have a return of investment within less than 12 months?
All Consultants for the 28,000sqm Shell Shared Services facility were invited to take part in the Silver LEED Celebration last week.
We were proud to have been able to achieve maximum LEED points for lighting. With a consumption of only 8.7W per sqm for 500lux average illumination and countless enhancing lighting features, this is definitely one of the nicest looking offices we have ever seen.
2,800 people will work in this facility under glare free conditions.
